Jessie James Decker........................Born Jessica Rose James, Decker's somewhat exotic birthplace was a product of her being raised in a military family. Her mother was a military wife, and her family been relocated to Louisiana by the time Decker was just nine years old. Decker was a winner at a talent competition in which she performed Patsy Montana's I Want to Be a Cowboy's Sweetheart. Decker was a resident of Georgia in the year she turned 15 years old. She began writing songs, and was making regular visits in Nashville. Looking for an agreement, she visited record labels and music publishers. She was just 17 when she gained the attention of the representative from independent label Big Yellow Dog Records who began shopping her songs to labels and artists. After Mercury Records president David Massey heard Decker's demos he passed the songs on to L.A. Reid head of the associated Island/Def Jam label group and Reid agreed to sign her up for the terms of a recording contract. Jessie James' first album entitled Jessie James and released in August 2009, was her self-titled debut. Jessie James achieved a reasonable level of success and had Wanted making it to in the Top 40 charts. However while Decker was always an artist from the country scene, her album was made and promoted using a popular audience in the back of her mind. Her music came under increased scrutiny after the release of two singles. The second single, Boys in the Summer featured a rural feel. Decker's album was titled Daughter of a Gypsy (or Sweet American Dreams), was pulled by Mercury after two singles didn't chart on country charts.
